Literature Text

The bright full moon illuminated the pitch black night. The Phantomhive manor was both quiet and still. The only light that was lit in the house was in the young master’s room. An owl hooted and landed on a branch in front of Ciel’s window.

Tossing and turning, he couldn’t sleep. Ciel got up and put on his medical eye patch to cover up his contractor’s seal. He grabbed the candle on his bedside table and began to head down to where his beloved, injured maiden was.

~
The young master reached the basement and stood in front of your door. He softly cleared his throat and knocked gently,

“Reader, are you awake?” he whispered through the door.

You slowly opened your eyes and immediately felt a sharp pain on the lower right side of your stomach. You inhaled through your teeth and exhaled slowly. The pain was too much for you to handle. You recalled what had happened:

Alois had pointed a gun at my beloved young master..

Without giving Ciel an answer, he quietly turned the door knob and let himself in. You struggled to sit upright, but smiled afterwards. The young master was holding the only light in the room.

“Even in the dark, the young master is still luminous as ever,” you whispered meekly.

He set the candle on your bedside table, and then sat on the side of your bed.

“Are you alright?” he whispered.

You smiled and nodded. A private Phantomhive doctor came by a couple of days ago to treat you. You were unconscious for three days, but that didn’t stop Ciel from coming to your room every night and seeing how you were doing. This was the first time in three days that you woke up.

“The wound is painful, but bearable,” you answered.

He moved up to where your body was and he gently put his hand on top of yours. He looked up at you with his sad dark, blue eyes.

“I apologize, reader,” he said. “If I had paid more attention to my surroundings, this wouldn’t have happened to you.”

You put your free hand on top of his and shook your head, “Don’t apologize, young master. It is the duty of a Phantomhive servant to protect you.”

“If you weren’t a Phantomhive servant, would you have still taken the bullet for me?”

You chuckled, “If I wasn’t a Phantomhive servant, then I wouldn’t even be here. I would still be out in the streets, doing who knows what.”

“You know what I mean,” he said under his breath.

“Although it is my duty to protect you, even if I wasn’t given an order to, I would still take a bullet or anything that comes your way. You are my beloved young master. And to lose you, is like..losing my purpose to live…” you whispered embarrassedly. “I am forever grateful for the young master. Everyone in this manor is grateful for you. I-if we were to l-lose you…” tears started to form, but you tried your best to hold them back.

Ciel’s face flushed. He’s heard the other servants say the same thing, but this was first time that he understood what they meant. He thought they were delirious, but after seeing you almost die, he realized that he would be losing another person he cared for. After seeing his parents die, he had become numb to the feeling of losing someone. This was the first time in a while, where he was scared to lose someone.

Subconsciously, Ciel leaned in closer and embraced you.

“I-I-I..C-can we stay like this for a bit?” he whispered nervously.

You were shocked to see and hear a flustered young master. He was always so composed. The young master you knew had an extremely high pride and would never resort to this. You smiled and nodded,

“Can we stay like this forever?” you mumbled as you wrapped your arms around him.

He laid both of you down on the bed. You two were facing each other from the side. Both of your faces were warm and you could feel each other’s breath.

“Y-young master?”

“Call me Ciel.”

You opened your mouth slightly, but closed it again.

“Is that an order?” you whispered as you looked at his lips.

“Yes..” he answered as he looked back at yours.

You pulled him closer to you--close enough so your noses touched.

“C-Ciel..”

He slightly smiled, “What is it?”

“This is unusual,” you whispered. “You’re not being yourself.”

He chuckled, “What do you mean?”

“Well, the young master I know would never do this—unless it was with Lady Elizabeth..”

He raised a brow at you, “Why do you bring up Elizabeth?”

A knot wrenched in your stomach. You pulled back gently, and you turned to your other side. You pulled the blanket over your head and said,

“I’m sorry young master, but I still feel slightly tired.”

He slightly frowned but stood up anyways. The last thing he wanted was for you to dislike him.

“I’m sorry for disturbing your sleep. I was ignorant--you must be incredibly exhausted,” he mumbled. “You can have the rest of the week off.”

He grabbed the candle off your table and looked at you, as if waiting for a reply. But after a couple of seconds of silence, he showed himself out.

You put your hand over your racing heart and grabbed your nightgown out of frustration. You looked up at the ceiling as the tears once again formed. Lady Elizabeth is much more suited for the young master—rich, beautiful, and flawless—what was there not to love? You are nothing but a peasant—nothing more than that. The young master only took pity on you; he was only being nice..

You stood up and looked at yourself in the mirror. Your tainted body does not deserve to be in the presence of the young master. Tears trickled down your cheeks as you said these words to yourself:

“I will not bother the young master with my presence any longer. I will do my job as his servant and only speak when he tells me to.”

~
You woke up the next morning feeling groggy. Your wound hasn’t been fully healed, but it was bearable. You got dressed for work. As you were about to put your hair up in a bun, immense pain filled your right side of your body and you fell down to your knees. You put your hand over your wound, and you felt blood slowly staining your uniform. You sighed and immediately got undressed. You looked at your naked body and realized that the stitches had come undone.

“Shit!” you mumbled to yourself.

You took a needle and thread from your drawer, and stitched up the wound by yourself. You were used to having wounds and scars all over your body. Any high-class women wouldn’t even have a scratch on them.

After stitching yourself up, you took out another uniform and put that on. You didn’t bother putting your hair up, so you just let it loose.

~
After heading upstairs, you immediately cleaned the rooms, dusted the furniture, mopped the floors, and wiped the staircase. After doing the regular chores, you washed your uniform and hung them downstairs in your room. You couldn’t get the blood fully out, but it wasn’t noticeable unless you were up close.

A tiny bell rang from upstairs, and you realized it was Sebastian. You quickly made your way upstairs again to see Sebastian who was standing in front of the staircase.

“You called, Mr. Sebastian?”

“Yes. Can you replace the curtains in the young master’s room? We are expecting visitors today, so I will be very busy. I appreciate the work you put in today, despite your injury. After you’re done, please take a rest. Your stitches will open up once again if you’re not careful,” he said with a smile.

“How did you know that?” you asked.

“I saw you washing your uniform that was stained with blood.”

You chuckled nervously, “I will get right to it.”

“Thank you.”

~
You headed upstairs to the young master’s room carrying heavy dark brown curtains. You decided to ignore the young master, and talk only when spoken to.

When you reached his room, you softly knocked on the young master’s door.

“I’m coming in,” you whispered so that you won’t wake him up.

When you opened the door, you saw that he was still asleep. You entered in quietly and you immediately raised a brow when you saw his sleeping body. He had no eye patch on. His eye area didn’t even seem like it was hurt. You dismissed the thought since you didn’t want to think too much about him.

You grabbed a chair and stood on it. You opened the curtains and took them down. As you were about to put on the new ones, you heard a struggle in the bed, then a groan.

“Sebastian?” he whispered.

You looked back at your young master who was sitting upright.

“No it is I. I’m sorry young master, did I wake you up?”

Ciel immediately looked at you. After a couple of seconds, his eyes widened and he covered his right eye. Despite covering it, you already caught a glimpse of it. You knew what it was. It was a demon’s seal. You have seen it several times in the streets. The contracted will get everything they want. However, a heavy price must be paid: their soul. You dropped the curtains in shock. You felt your knees getting weak and your vision blurring.

“Reader? Reader!” shouted Ciel.

The last thing you saw was a blurred vision of the young master holding a hand out to you.
I apologize for the wait everyone! It has just been such a busy week for me (with Christmas and school ofc) ~_~ but that did not stop me from writing and uploading! :D

I am currently working on a project, and hopefully, I'll be able to release it at blurb by next year. So please watch out for that. But for noow, enjoy my fanfics!~ :D

I don't think I will be ending this fanfic anytime soon, so dw about me just cutting it off. I will be letting you guys know beforehand, so there wont be any confusion.  Doing Kuroshitsuji (black butler) fanfics have really improved my grammar and spelling bc of all the proper way of speaking. Sooo that's good xD
